Province of Viterbo, rain of appeals on hot practices

Having archived the electoral round, which saw Tuscia involved with the European elections and the renewal of 25 municipal administrations, yesterday the council of Palazzo Gentili returned to the chamber.

The small parliament of the organization in via Saffi started again from the communications of the president Alessandro Romoli, fresh from his reconfirmation as the city government of Bassano in Teverina.

First of all, best wishes for good work to the first citizens elected or reconfirmed with Romoli who also underlined how “the assembly of mayors is one of the bodies of the Province”.

And speaking of the organization and structure of the administrative machine, at the end of the provincial council, a group leader meeting was held to set the date of the meeting in which the various delegations will be assigned to the provincial councilors: Monday 24 June. Delegations are therefore arriving while the majority that will govern for the next two years has not yet been outlined nor the vice president elected.

Even if there do not seem to be any possible deviations from the previous axis.

In his communications, President Romoli summarized the issues on which the organization is working: expansion of the Monterazzano landfill, renewables, geothermal energy and school sizing.

Territorial problems that have often brought the Province on a collision course with the Region, complete with appeals to the TAR by Palazzo Gentili.

In particular on the expansion of the landfill conditioned by its use to serve the entire Lazio, Romoli said he was «surprised by the reactions of the president of the Rocca Region. We are operating only in the interest of protecting the territory, beyond the flags. There is no question of belonging.”

Then recalling that «there is linearity with the work carried out by the previous Nocchi administration at the time of the Zingaretti-led Region» he reiterated that «the Province will continue on the path traced and voted by the council assembly».

Another “hot” topic: the invasion, which seems to be seamless, of plants for the production of energy from renewables. Even though Tuscia hosts 78% of Lazio’s plants, «important installations of wind turbines are arriving between Montefiascone, Viterbo, Celleno and Ischia di Castro».

«We risk – he remarked – that, in weeks or months, we will no longer have the landscape which is one of the elements that Tuscia can offer in terms of tourism development». The critical issues regarding connected roads were also highlighted.

The Province, in both situations, expressed its opposition with appeals before the TAR.

Same intervention methodology implemented against geothermal wells in the Caprarola area.

And as regards school sizing, the subject of a meeting with the interested parties 15 days ago, Romoli urged the council. «We must review the organizational structure of the schools to reorganize the school managements in the area in order to arrive before September with a timely and specific proposal on which to discuss with the Region».
