The countryside returns to the city. The twelfth edition of the Santerno Agricultural Fair kicks off today, which will liven up the Sante Zennaro complex until Sunday evening. The event will open its gates at 6pm, half an hour before the official inauguration in the presence of the mayor Marco Panieri, the councilor Pierangelo Raffini, the president of the Canale dei Mulini di Imola Consortium, Giordano Zambrini, and representatives of the agricultural associations. This was followed by the blessing of Bishop Giovanni Mosciatti. The fair will be open this evening until 11pm; tomorrow from 9am to 11pm and Sunday from 9am to 9pm. Entrance is free.

On an exhibition area of 4 thousand square meters and 60 thousand uncovered, the event aims to make agricultural products and the values that characterize their production known to an increasingly wider public. Like every year, there will be a large area dedicated to the display, tasting and sale of the agricultural and agri-food products of the producing companies. There will be almost 60 fruits, vegetables, cured meats, cheeses, honey, jams and much more. There will also be the nursery market exhibition (six exhibitors) and that of agricultural machinery and equipment, gardening and animal husbandry products (another 23).

A series of eight shows is dedicated to folklore and the Romagna language.

We start this evening at 9.30pm with the reading ‘Scòr cum ut a insigné! Raise your crest. The Fair also presents the usual exhibitions dedicated to Romagna cattle and donkeys (about a hundred animals in total), equestrian shows and falconry demonstrations. The usual appointment with milking and shearing demonstrations is also back.

And then, in addition to the usual program of seminars and meetings, on Sunday morning at 6am there is the rooster crowing competition. This is a preview while the fair is still closed: it will only be open to admire the competition and have breakfast with hot donuts and coffee from Bar Mirella.

As always, at the fair there will be space for gastronomic proposals for all tastes. Tasty traditional dishes will be prepared by the historical festivals of the Imola district: Gruppo polentari of Tossignano, Ancient macaroni society of Borgo Tossignano, Association of the piè fritta festival of Fontanelice, Association of the Garganello festival, Belvedere pro loco association and Mordano pro loco association. There is also the stand of the Clai cooperative. The Osteria dei Colli d’Imola will present the excellence of the local wine production. There will also be a wide choice of craft beers produced by local breweries. To complete the picture, a bar and three ice cream parlors. Among the novelties of this twelfth edition, again in terms of food, is a village dedicated to the gastronomic proposals of local farms. Among these we highlight an entirely gluten-free menu, curated by the La Taverna di Fontanelice farmhouse.

Given the appreciation of the last edition, thanks to the collaboration with the Hera group, the ‘Urban Source’ returns to the fair from which refrigerated natural and sparkling water will be dispensed free of charge, avoiding the circulation of disposable bottles. The advice is therefore to bring your own water bottle or glass.

The free shuttle to and from the fair is confirmed again this year, departing from the car parks in the Lungofiume area and in Via Tiro a Segno.

The complete program of the event will be available on the website www.culturaimola.it and on the brand new Santerno Agricultural Fair app which can be downloaded on all smartphones.
