A granite stele to remember those who gave their lives in the exercise of their duty: yesterday morning in Legnano, in the public park in via dei Bambini in the former Cantoni area, the inauguration ceremony of the “Monument to the Fallen of the Guard” took place of Finance in times of war and peace”, an initiative included in the context of the celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the Corps. The inauguration of the monument, which from now on will be under the eyes of all citizens in a pedestrian street characterized by the artistic mosaic of Maurizio Cannavacciuolo, was attended by the Regional Commander of the Lombardy Financial Police, General Giuseppe Arbore, the Provincial Commander of the Guardia di Finanza of Milan, General Francesco Mazzotta, the Mayor of Legnano, Lorenzo Radice, and numerous other civil, military and religious authorities. Doing the honors for the Guardia di Finanza was Lieutenant Colonel Biagio Maurizio Agosta, commander of the Legnano Group.

After the flag raising and the national anthem performed by the Jubilate choir of Legnano, there were interventions by the leaders of the Guardia di Finanza and the mayor of Legnano, who underlined the importance of the event, placing emphasis on the collaboration between institutions and remembered the many fallen in the history of the Corps, including the officer Luca Piani and the financiers Simone Giacomelli and Alessandro Pozzi, who tragically disappeared during an exercise in Val Masino just two weeks ago. The Monument, a granite stele where in addition to the actual dedication one can recognize the summit of Monte Rosa and the Flame which replicates the frieze of the Guardia di Finanza, was created by the artist Francesco Murano and was finally blessed by Monsignor Luca Raimondi, auxiliary bishop of Milan.
