Due to the ruined asphalt Alberto Stucchi45 years old from Erba, lost control of his wheelchair on Sunday morning and fell badly to the ground, suffering head and facial trauma.
Even today, three days after the incident, he still has clear signs of the fall on his face with his face swollen and the part above his lip with obvious abrasions.

The episode occurred between via Vittorio Veneto and via San Rocco at 11.30 am on Sunday 9 June. Stucchi has been in a wheelchair following a serious illness since 1992 and has always loved going to the center of Erba to have breakfast and take his beautiful dog for a walk.
Sunday the accident which he himself explains, again with a certain emphasis: «I live shortly after the Mercato square in Erba and I always take the same road, just passing through the Market square and taking via San Rocco at the wash house I found a piece of asphalt with serious cracks where the front wheel of my wheelchair got stuck and remained blocked”.
A particular dynamic is unfortunate, for Stucchi it could have been even worse: «The wheelchair got stuck in the crack and threw me forward, I tried to put my hands but unfortunately I hit my face violently causing a cut above my lip and grazes all over my face, hitting my teeth and head too. I couldn’t move anymore and I was losing blood, then a lot of pain in my mouth. Fortunately on Sunday morning there was a demonstration in the square and the LarioSoccorso ambulance arrived immediately.”
Stucchi, 45 years old, was transported to the emergency room of the Manzoni hospital in Lecco: «Immediately after the people passing by fell, they called 118, I could no longer move, they stabilized me and loaded me into the ambulance towards the emergency room of Lecco where I was given a CT scan of my head and neck, fortunately with negative results.”
“They discharged me around 6pm on Sunday with facial trauma and head trauma, as well as abrasions to my upper lip and nasal pyramid.”
The 45-year-old is recovering: «I have to thank the health workers and also a woman who intervened immediately to help me. My dog was there for me the whole time. The intention is to ask for damages from the Municipality, the streets cannot be left in those conditions, I have prepared a letter which I have sent to my lawyer”.
The mayor of Erba Mauro Caprani he limits himself to a laconic answer: “…it’s his right.”
The councilor Paolo Farano he says something more: «We went to the street for an inspection and it doesn’t seem like such a dangerous situation, there are streets in Erba that are much worse».

It is not a justification to say that there are other roads in worse conditions: «The municipal administration of Erba, like all the other municipalities, does what it can, everyone would like to redo the asphalt of half the city but it is not possible. The crack where he fell is in the middle of the road, I wonder why he went through there and not sideways. To fall like that then you have to understand how fast he was going, however there are insurance policies.”
