“Five people tried to strangle me: help me”

Ancona, 14 June 2024 – He was coming back home for dinner when five of them allegedly attacked him and also attempted to strangle him. The victim was a 50-year-old Albanian who lives in the Piano neighborhood. The man was in Piazza Ugo Bassi, near the bus terminus, he was alone and headed home on foot. While he was walking he came across a group of people, there were at least five of them, who started to bother him.

It’s unclear whether they wanted money or if they were just drunk and therefore in the mood to start a fight and nothing else. The Albanian quickened his pace but the five surrounded him and started yelling at him.

A fight broke out where the 50-year-old was grabbed by the neck with such a tight hold that it injured him and almost suffocated him. By struggling and screaming he managed to loosen his grip and run away from those people who also tried to chase him.

The Albanian arrived home with his remaining strength, breathing hard and with a sore neck. Once safe within the home walls he called the single emergency number to ask for medical support because he wasn’t feeling well. He had injuries to his neck due to the suffocation attempt and was still in shock from the attack, which he said was without reason. 118 and a Yellow Cross ambulance arrived at his house.

The medical staff took care of examining him and making sure that he had acceptable vital signs. The man he was very agitated and confused about what had happened to him. It was he who explained to the rescuers that a group of people had tried to strangle him. There would be something else behind what happened. The 50-year-old was taken to the emergency room at Torrette hospital, with a medium severity code. Until yesterday, the man did not file a complaint with the police or with the police.
