The singer’s message reaches directly to the hearts of her many Sienese admirers on the eve of June 14th, World Blood Donor Day and in view of the arrival of the summer period, when it is necessary to have greater attention and sensitivity towards blood donation. An event that the Aou Senese Blood Transfusion Center directed by Dr. Elena Marchini celebrates with an intense week of events: after the collective blood donation of jockeys and district managers on Wednesday 12 June, on Friday 14 all the local voluntary associations will be protagonists with an event that sees the athletes of Cus Siena Rugby as testimonials: “solidarity towards the goal” this is the slogan of the initiative organized by the territorial organizations of Anpas, Avis, Red Cross, Blood Donors of the Contrade and Fratres which, since 2022, have signed a collaboration protocol with the Aou Senese to strengthen and develop collaboration in the field of blood and blood component donation.
«I am really happy that an international artist like Gianna Nannini has accepted our invitation with great sensitivity and solidarity to support blood donations – said Dr. Elena Marchini, director of the Blood Transfusion Center of the Siena hospital -. Also thanks to the constant commitment of all the transfusion service staff. In the year 2023, there is an increase in total donations of +8.7% (8332 donations) compared to 2022. In particular – continues Dr. Marchini -, there was an increase in donations of both whole blood (+1, 5%), that of plasmapheresis (+279%) and plasmaplateletpheresis (+12.4%) compared to the previous year. The number of aspiring donors and new donations has also increased – continues Marchini -: +11.6% and +10.4% respectively compared to the previous year. The trend is also increasing in the first months of 2024 – concludes Dr. Marchini -: in the period January-May there was an overall increase in donations of 2.5%, of which whole blood +1.5% and plasmapheresis +35 %, compared to the same period in 2023″.
