Massa-Carrara Plot twist for the third category playoff final, the sports judge gives Attuoni Avenza a 3-0 loss, today mister Luigi Bertolini’s Dallas Romagnano has been promoted to the second category. Saturday’s play-off final was suspended at the end of the first extra half (regular time 1-1), due to the protests of the player Marco Iardella of Dallas who was sent off after the second yellow card; the player allegedly had a threatening attitude towards the referee (as mentioned in Iardella’s eight-match disqualification), the referee gave the three whistles considering he was not in a position to continue the match. The official press release explains that after a few minutes in the locker room, the referee believed he was capable of completing the match, so he called the two captains; but the captain of Attuoni Avenza subsequently communicated the team’s unwillingness to continue the match, «despite the repeated requests of the match director and despite there being no impediments to the resumption of the game, so much so that all the admitted athletes were at interior of the land”. From here the sports judge held the Avenzini of Attuoni responsible for the failure to conclude the match correctly, inflicting the loss of the match by zero to three.

For Attuoni, mister Andrea Tinfena: «It is an absurd decision in our opinion, everything was unleashed after the expulsion of the Dallas player and his attack on the referee (also specified in the reason for the disqualification), in this regard there is also a short video when the referee emerges from the fray by going towards the center of the pitch and with the final whistle he decrees the end. As per the regulations, in our opinion the three whistles are unequivocal, the minutes of suspension (mentioned in the official press release) are not true, however the club will have the opportunity to appeal this sanction.” On the side of those who won the match, the director of the Massa team, Michele Pantera, has words of thanks already thinking about the next championship: «Today we are aware of having won these third category play-offs and the mathematical promotion to the second category championship. I won’t comment on Saturday’s unpleasant episode. I thank the coach, the Pucci family and all the staff for this great year. I thank my boys who deserved this great promotion, we will start working immediately for next year”.
