Poli Bortone confirms: Lecce on the ballot (video)

He took 49.87% of the votes and even his lists did not exceed 50%. You will return to vote on June 23 and 24. He challenges Salvemini.

After the outgoing mayor Carlo Salvemini, Adriana Poli Bortone also confirms that Lecce will go to a runoff. At the end of the work of the Central Electoral Commission, the senator had to acknowledge that she had not exceeded the 50% threshold: she stopped at 49.87% and even her lists did not exceed 50%. Therefore, as announced by Salvemini, if the outgoing mayor were to win there will be no lame duck. In short, a very open game for the run-off, which remains confirmed for 23 and 24 June. In a press conference, Poli Bortone underlined how Salvemini, after 5 years of administration, lost 4,000 votes and then launched some serious accusations. Meanwhile, on the correctness of the counting operations: in some sections, you said, the invalid ballots are close to 10%. In one section of my neighborhood, added Poli Bortone, there were 51 invalid ballots. And then you reported that people from the center-left were contacting some unelected center-right candidates in order to obtain their support in the runoff.
