Lombardy, 23 million euros from the Region to replace old boilers

A fund equal to 23 million euros for the replacement of obsolete heating systems with innovative systems to help reduce emissions. This is what is foreseen in the resolution approved by the council of the Lombardy Region, on the proposal of the councilor for the environment and climate, Giorgio Maione.

Last year the tender was for 12 million and according to regional data the replacement of 3,200 systems throughout the region was financed. This year, with almost double the resources, the Fontana council ensures that it can also satisfy some requests from last year for which there was no financial coverage. The tender should open within about a month.

The beneficiaries of the contribution are natural persons (20 million euros), SMEs (1 million euros) who intend to replace their obsolete heating system (powered by biomass, diesel, etc.) with a biomass system with very low emissions. The measure also provides 2 million euros for condominiums.

In municipalities with altitudes higher than 300 m above sea level, only generators powered by biomass belonging to the 4 and 5 star environmental classes will be incentivized (with fine dust values not exceeding 20 mg/Nm3 if the application has already been submitted to the GSE and not exceeding 15 mg/Nm3 if the application is still to be submitted). In municipalities with altitudes lower than or equal to 300 m above sea level, only biomass-fueled heat generators belonging to the 5-star environmental class are incentivized (with primary particulate values not exceeding 15 mg/Nm3 if the application has already been submitted to the GSE and not exceeding 10 mg/Nm3 if it is yet to be submitted).
