ROME. A few more hours and the weather will be “less excessive” again. From next week, however, a new wave of heat will arrive, a “strong African blaze”. These are the predictions of Andrea Garbinato, editorial manager of Meteo.it. In the next few hours, further heavy showers are feared in the North-East and towards the central regions, in particular in the Centre. “Thunder and lightning are arriving between the internal areas of Tuscany, Umbria and the Adriatic side, while in the North the situation will tend to improve gradually”, adds Garbinato. In the South, however, there will be the last hours “of African super heat with peaks of 37°C in Sicily, 35°C in Puglia, 33°C in Calabria and Basilicata”.
“From Friday everything will change – underlines the meteorologist – the day of June 14th will be decidedly sunny everywhere but not hot, there will still be a low humidity content and therefore we will not have too muggy conditions. During the weekend, however, we will see the specter again in the distance of the African Anticyclone ready to return to our country. The weekend, which marks the middle of a decidedly eventful June so far, will therefore still be good with slightly rising temperatures”.
A new African flare-up is expected in our country from next week, which will also reach the North where values of up to 35° are expected, and up to 38° in the Center. “A heat wave that could be very long, in the North at least until the Summer Solstice, which this year will take place on Thursday 20 June at 10.50 pm – says Garbinato – in the Centre-South well beyond this astronomical date, perhaps indefinitely “.
