A concert with arias, symphonic and choral pieces taken from masterpieces by Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini with the basilica acting as a backdrop: this is the programme “A Night at the Opera” the musical event as part of the celebrations of Centenary of Legnano City to be held Tuesday 18 June (Wednesday 19 in case of bad weather) at 9pm in Piazza San Magno. The first part of the concert will be dedicated to Verdi’s operas (La Battaglia di Legnano, Nabucco, Traviata and Aida), the second to Puccini’s ones (Manon Lescaut, Tosca, Madama Butterfly and Turandot). Performing will be the Mario Braggio Choir and Orchestra of Turin directed by Maestro Gian Luca Fasano; solo voices will be Renata Campanella (soprano), Diego Cavazzin (tenor) and Marzio Giossi (baritone). The artistic director of the evening is Malva Bogliotti. For orchestra, choir, conductor and artistic director “Una notte all’opera” marks the return to Legnano after the performance, on 29 April 2016, of the opera “La Battaglia di Legnano” at the Tirinnanzi Theatre, recently reopened to the public.

The artistic director has in fact laid out a program that starts right from a tribute to our history, with the performance of the prelude to the “Battle of Legnano”, and which concludes the first part with the finale of Aida, the first opera attended by the young Puccini, the composer to whom the second part of the program is dedicated and whose centenary of death marks the centenary of his death.
