Pistoia, architectural barriers removed from the Pantheon

PISTOIA – After the renovation of the monumental building of the Pantheon, the municipal administration decided to complete the redevelopment process of the Parterre area, entrusting the engineering company BF Progetti of Pistoia with the development of a executive project which involves the demolition of the architectural barriers of the Parterre and the Pantheon through special mechanical connections, designing a system to overcome the difference in height present with the Porta al Borgo car park.

Also included are the works for the restoration of the entrance, the gates, the staircase and the masonry that supports the embankment, as well as the removal of the old electrical substation located in a corner of the Parterre and a restoration of the stretch of city walls interested. The project also plans to insert a special system to allow the slight difference in height at the entrance to the Pantheon to be overcome.

The executive project defined for the architectural part is being examined by the competent authorities Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the metropolitan city of Florence and for the provinces of Pistoia and Prato and once the authorization for the works has been acquired, the Municipality of Pistoia will be able to proceed with the verification and validation of the overall executive project, complete with the structural and plant engineering documents, and therefore start the procurement procedures to carry out the barrier removal intervention architectural.

The cost of the entrusted design includes a total expense of 45.535.18 EUR, of which 20,000.00 euros financed by the Caript Foundation through participation in the “Let’s design!” call. The remaining part was allocated by the municipal administration.

The work on the accessibility of public real estate by the municipal administration is constantly evolving and has already seen, among others, interventions in many school buildings and sports facilities, through works to remove architectural barriers on toilets, common areas and access routes to improve the use of spaces, and in play areas in parks and gardens which have been renovated, with the installation of inclusive equipment and anti-trauma flooring, as well as the creation of paths for their complete accessibility. This commitment also continues for all buildings recovered with PNRR fundswhich will be made fully accessible.
