Federalberghi: record-breaking province of Agrigento in 2023

The province of Agrigento has achieved extraordinary results in the tourism sector for the year 2023. 460,000 arrivals were recorded in the tourist accommodation facilities of the province, with an increase of 16.7% compared to 2022. Federalberghi’s satisfaction with the results which gives us hope for the near future. An extraordinary figure is that of presences which consolidated at 1,587,000, with an increase of 24.8% compared to the previous year, and an average stay of 3.4 days. “These data – declares Francesco Picarella, President of Federalberghi Agrigento – certify the second largest increase in attendance compared to the other Sicilian provinces. A fact of precious value for a territory, such as that of Agrigento, which is thirsty for work and which sees tourism as the only real economic driving force”.
Data from the regional tourism observatory confirms that Agrigento and its province are leaders in post-pandemic tourism.

The recognition of Agrigento as Capital of Culture is destined to mark a new economic spring for the entire territory, further contributing to the growth of the tourism sector.
Tourism has also had a positive impact on the service and public sector sectors, consolidating the sector as a driving force for the local economy. However, a challenge remains: the region’s difficulty in recovering the overnight stays not taken, which represent approximately 23% of the total.
It is essential that institutions, businesses, unions and citizens now collaborate to make 2025 the turning point year for the area. “Only by joining forces – concludes Francesco Picarella – will it be possible to consolidate the successes achieved and build a prosperous future for Agrigento and its province”.
