The regional legislative assembly said it was in favor of the new regulation for the management of ungulates in Emilia Romagna.

It changes after sixteen years: the ungulate regulation in force up to now in Emilia Romagna dates back to 2008. In the last few hours the legislative assembly she said she was in favor to the new, prepared one by the council; will be executive as soon as Stefano Bonaccini, president of the Region (it will be one of the last acts in this capacity: it was in fact elected to the European Parliament), will sign the relevant decree.

The minimum number of hunters needed to form a wild boar hunting team decreases from forty to thirty; and in extraordinary circumstances and in the case of particular needs of the territory, hunts and hunts may be authorized even with fewer than fifteen participants. With the Parks and neighboring Regions, Emilia Romagna will also be able to agree on common guidelines for the unitary management of the areas where the species is present, regardless of administrative borders.

However, the new regulation does not only concern wild boar: for roe deer and fallow deer it provides a series of actions necessary to ensure that the objectives set out in the wildlife-hunting plan can be achieved «in terms of compatibility with the environment, protection of biodiversity and the sustainability of agriculture»; for the management of deer we align ourselves with what was recently established by Tuscany, with which Emilia Romagna shares part of the distribution area.

Other changes are instead linked to the new national regulatory contextstarting from the usable weapons and the wildlife control methods, modified by the budget law 2023.

Underlining that in the process to reach the final draft the Region involved all interested partiesstarting from the hunting world and from Atcthe Councilor for Agriculture Alessio Mammi says he is convinced that the new regulation «it will make it easier to carry out collective hunting activities and will improve the management of wild boar, which represents a problem for agriculture and public safety».
