LECCE – A 77-year-old pensioner from Lecce was found dead in his home. In all likelihood he was struck by a sudden illness. He was found by rescuers who responded to the scene while he was still sitting in the dining room. He will not have had the time to ask for help.
Some circumstances made the 118 doctor suspicious, starting from the presence of blood, which is why, out of scruple, the intervention of the Carabinieri was requested and this is the reason why the public prosecutor on duty, Maria, also arrived on site. Grazia Anastasia, and the medical examiner Alberto Tortorella. In short, however, the doubts were dispelled. In short, the possibility of an attack must be considered excluded.
The man, separated, lived alone in via di Vereto, in the San Pio district. He had children, but they live in other Italian regions. And it was a daughter who became suspicious: she hadn’t heard from him for at least three days. And, given the lack of response to the continuous phone calls, in the end she was unable to do anything else this morning but contact the firefighters. The team, having arrived near the house, to enter and allow the 118 health workers to enter, was forced to force a window on the first floor. And that’s how the tragic discovery was made. Unfortunately, there was really nothing the man could do.
The death could date back at least four days ago and, as mentioned, for precautionary purposes and to leave no stone unturned, an inspection by the police was requested. The carabinieri from the mobile radio section and colleagues from the Santa Rosa station – responsible for the area – then arrived and found that the house was in perfect order and there were no signs of forced entry. In short, nothing could suggest the intrusion of malicious people.
In any case, the body was transferred to the mortuary of the Lecce cemetery where in the next few days the medical examiner Alberto Tortorella will carry out a cadaveric inspection.
