There is a new date for the clearance of the building in via Torino 8 in Gallarate, the building in serious disrepair following a surreal story of debts left by three companies (attributable to a single person) owners of most of the accommodation.

The date is early July, says mayor Andrea Cassani: «The provincial public order and safety committee ended a little while ago and it was decided that the condominium will be cleared out entirely» explains the mayor.

«A letter will be delivered to the occupants (with title and without title) in the next few hours with which they will be informed that they will have to clear the building of things and people by the first days of July. Each subsequent day will then be useful for clearing the property. Obviously, at the same time as the eviction, the owners will close and brick up the access gates to the condominium, which will remain until the works are carried out to guarantee the minimum hygiene and safety situations of the property”.

«The people present with title are already aware, since the end of November, that they would have had to find another housing solution and now there will be no more postponements”.

The building – valuable, on the edge of the center of Gallarate – has suffered decay in the last twelve years following theaccumulate 650 thousand euros of debt, after three Milanese companies (attributable to a single owner, the entrepreneur Alessandro Polita) they had stopped paying condominium fees: the building was left without power and with problems that were getting worse, for example due to the collapse of the waste water pipes in the basement. Because of sanitary conditions, the Municipality then declared the building unusable last winter.

The three companies were declared bankrupt in the spring and now it is hoped that the bankruptcy trustees will be able to intervene to pay off the debts and bring the building back into order, restoring its value.
In the meantime, however, it must be evicted of all the inhabitants, the owners of apartments with title (full owners or with a mortgage), the people who live there having paid advances or rent to the three Milanese companies, the illegal occupants who have entered in the meantime.
