Last season, the coach was in charge of Empoli for four days before being sacked
The new coach of Verona is Paolo Zanetti. A choice made by the yellow-blue club in recent days, made official on Wednesday with a statement published this morning: «Hellas Verona FC announces that it has entrusted the technical management of the First Team to Paolo Zanetti – we read in the note –, who has linked himself to Yellow-blue club until 30 June 2025 with option for the second year. Zanetti, 41 years old, originally from Valdagno, after two years in Lega Pro, on the bench of Südtirol, landed in Serie B with Venezia, with whom he obtained promotion to Serie A. After the Serie A season with the Venetians, he moved to Empoli with which he reaches the goal of salvation in the 2022/2023 championship”.
The exemption in Empoli
Last season, Zanetti was sacked after four matchdays by Empoli, with whom he resolved, on Wednesday, the contract which was in place until 30 June 2026. Below, the signing and formalization of the agreement with Verona, with which the possible renewal for 2025-2026 will be triggered automatically if the team reaches the goal of salvation. For Hellas next season will be the sixth consecutive season in Serie A, with Zanetti taking the place of Marco Baroni, the coach who led the Gialloblù in the last championship.
Presentation and collection
Baroni went on to lead Lazio, while Verona, after having examined, among others, the profiles of Massimo Donati and Andrea Sottil, has placed a strong bet on Zanetti, chosen and desired by the president of Hellas, Maurizio Setti, in agreement with the sporting director, Sean Sogliano. Zanetti’s staff includes the assistant coach Alberto Bertolini, the athletic trainer Fabio Trentin and the match analyst Nicola Beati. In the next few weeks, on a date to be established for the presentation. Verona will be in retreat in Folgaria from 15 to 28 July.
