A network between institutions to support the elderly population and help them defend themselves from scams. Yesterday, 12 June, a meeting was held in the headquarters of the social services department of the municipality of Aprilia with the councilor Veronica Napolitano, the municipal councilor Dania Zattoni, the captain of the carabinieri Angelo Sgueglia, responsible for the Norm, and the presidents of the senior centers present in the area. The objective was to coordinate a series of awareness initiatives organized by the Territorial Department of the Aprilia Army with the aim of protecting the elderly from the most frequent deception techniques.
“By history and tradition – underlines councilor Veronica Napolitano – among the police forces, the Carabinieri represents the body in closest contact with the social fabric, closest to people, their problems and their needs. This is also why it is important that they offer citizens, starting from the most fragile ones, practical support to defend themselves from those who think they are taking advantage of a condition of fragility, of excess trust. Over the years, these awareness events have taken place proved to be effective. Many elderly people recognized the suspicious signs in time and escaped the clutches of the scammers in time. We can only share the spirit and purpose of these meetings, trusting in a great participation from our senior centers”.
