Closes after over forty years of activity, Tattoo Records the «Tempietto del Vinile», in Piazzetta Nilo in Naples. The owner announced the lockout of the historic record shop, scheduled for mid-October Enzo Pone who writes on Facebook:
«To all the thousands of people and all the friends who have shared this unique and incredible human and professional experience in these 42 years: October 15th will be the LAST working day of our TATTOO RECORDS Tattoo Records shop in Piazzetta Nilo 15. let’s close. We almost cease to exist because we will continue the business by buying and selling vinyls and CDs from our office located in Corso Amedeo di Savoia, also in Naples! There are more than one reasons for this difficult choice, all of which are not trivial.
For now we will only mention a few, we prefer to expose other truths about the choice to abandon this wonderful job after October 15th. The main reason is my precarious state of health; I am 72 years old and have various pathologies. I find it increasingly difficult, even with the assistance of extraordinary accomplices, to carry out this activity, such as lifting a crate full of vinyl records, or preparing the benches in the morning to display the records.
Furthermore, Piazzetta Nilo, in recent years has become a reality that is not so easy to live in professionally for those who tend to sell a product other than a pizza or a cuoppo […]. I am abandoning the store NOT the business; I will try to maintain a working relationship with some worthy customers eager to share this new experience.”
Since 1983, entire generations of music lovers have savored the pleasure of vinyl here. Old enthusiasts, but also young people and tourists who have found rarities and successes in the second-hand boxes on display, from the 80s to 2000 on 33 and 45 rpm.
