Twinning Dragonette Granda Canoa Club and Canoa Club Ferrara

The provincial Acli of Cuneo, with a view to the collaboration with the LILT of Cuneo, applaud the initiative

The weekend of 14-16 June, organized by Granda Canoa club, in collaboration with the LILT of Cuneo, saw the Dragonettes of Cuneo reach the Vigarano Oasis in Ferrara for a special meeting with the Dragonettes of the local Canoa Club. Around 30 women gathered to share sporting activities and moments of conviviality, immediately establishing a beautiful understanding.

Saturday began with a visit by the Dragonettes of Cuneo to the splendid city of Ferrara. In the afternoon, the group ventured on a fascinating open Canadian tour in the Comacchio Valleys. Here, they worked on sailing boats and admired wonderful places where pink flamingos dominated undisturbed. The evening ended with celebration and laughter, further cementing the bond between the two groups.

Sunday morning, at the Vigarano Oasis, a dragon and a little dragon set off from the piers for a suggestive group paddle in the waters of the lake. The moment was enriched by stretching and meditation sessions, allowing everyone to relax and connect with each other and with the surrounding nature.

The weekend was directed by two expert canoe technicians: Giorgia Minzoni, mother of Marta Bertoncelli who qualified for the Paris Olympics in the C1 Woman Slalom category (for the Canoa Club Ferrara), and Fulvio Fina (for the Granda Canoa Club ). Their guidance made this weekend amazing and unforgettable.

The Dragonette project, started a year ago, is an initiative that promotes physical and psychological well-being through the sport of dragon boating. Initially aimed mainly at women who have faced breast cancer, today it involves women of all ages, even without a history of health problems. The Cuneo group, created to foster a strong team spirit and mutual support, meets every Tuesday from 6pm to 7pm to paddle on the little dragon in Lake Tetti Lupo in Madonna delle Grazie. The project received a valuable contribution from the CRC Foundation, which supports the Dragonettes’ weekly activity, allowing them to continue to meet and train regularly.

The key words of this twinning were empathy, cohesion, nature, sport and laughter. The two groups said goodbye with the promise to meet again soon in Cuneo to experience new emotions together. Originally, the Ferrara Dragonettes were supposed to go to Cuneo in March, but the appointment was canceled due to snow. This event allowed us to resume and strengthen ties, with the certainty that the next meeting will be just as special.

A weekend that left its mark in the hearts of all the participants, promoting values of friendship and collaboration through sport.

If there are women interested in joining this group, it is still possible: any day is a good day to become a Dragonette! For info and contacts [email protected] or tel. 347/9459800
