ISERNIA – The CC Forestry Unit of Frosolone has reported the owner and employee of a construction and earthmoving company, based in Molise, to the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Isernia, for aggravated theft of lithoid material taken illegally from the riverbed of a river in Alto Molise, with the aid of an excavator.
The investigation activity, launched following a report, made it possible to ascertain that this illegal sampling had been taking place for some years in the absence of authorization from the competent authorities, due to the inertia of the manager of the local municipal technical office who failed to carry out the due checks and to adopt the consequent competent measures, being also referred to the Judicial Authority for this conduct.
At the moment it has not been possible to make an estimate of the material taken illegally, but the proceeding is still in the preliminary investigation phase during which further elements useful for reconstructing the story may possibly emerge, while the suspects will be able to assert their defenses pursuant to of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
From the Isernia Group Command they highlight the importance of river police activity, aimed at protecting the courses of the Province from an environmental, naturalistic but also hydrogeological point of view, in consideration of the fact that an indiscriminate withdrawal of lithoid material from the riverbed it jeopardizes the delicate hydraulic balances, with dangerous consequences also from the point of view of public safety.
