BOLZANO. Yesterday afternoon, in a phase of extraordinary checks arranged by the Police Commissioner of Bolzano Paolo Sartorion the territory of Bolzano itself, the mobile squads (State Police) carried out various checkpoints in the industrial area – with a particular focus at the exit of the A22, at the “Bolzano Sud” toll booth.
By 6.15pm the suspect: a stopped van he seemed to observe the police officers, causing inconvenience to the other cars left behind, queuing for the toll booth.
The discovery came immediately afterwards, when the officers approached to identify the driver: a 41 year old AlbanianGV, resident in Lombardy, with a history of drug dealing.
The driver’s nervousness led the officers to inspect the vehicle, finding 10 vacuum-packed packages, containing a total weight of 5.5kg of marijuana.
Present with him was another man, with a valid residence permit, a craftsman by profession: he was also arrested. The total value was estimated at almost 1 million euros.
Commissioner Sartori’s comment wanted to underline the ongoing effort to combat the drug market: “Drug consumption, as demonstrated by the case, is anything but an occasional phenomenon in the province. This is a phenomenon that must be combated: for the effects on young people, but also for the context that generates crime and petty crime.”
