Moments of true terror shocked the municipalities of Melara and nearby Ostiglia on Wednesday afternoon, when a tornado hit the area around 5pm. The atmospheric phenomenon, of rare intensity, which caused significant damage, leaving residents in a state of shock.

In the hamlet of Santo Stefano, located along Via Pagana, the strong wind and pouring rain uncovered six homes, also causing serious damage to the garages and causing flooding. The images of torn roofs and damaged houses testify to the power of the storm.

On Regional Road 482, a truck was literally overturned by the fury of the wind. The heavy vehicle overturned off the road, blocking the Via Altopolesana towards Ostiglia. The accident required the immediate intervention of the authorities to secure the area and remove the vehicle.

In Correggioli, a hamlet of Ostiglia in the province of Mantua, four poplar trees were uprooted by the whirlwind, blocking the road that connects Melara to the province of Mantua. Here too, the damage to the roads made rapid action by the emergency services necessary.

The Civil Protection, the Carabinieri and the Fire Brigade intervened to manage the emergency.
