Cremonese, Giacchetta: “Vandeputte is not our priority”

Simone Giacchetta, sporting director of Cremonese, recently released some statements regarding the transfer market movements of the grey-red club. Interviewed by ilovepalermocalcio.com, Giacchetta provided his point of view on two of the most talked about names of the moment: Matteo Brunori and Jari Vandeputte.

Brunori: A disputed talent

Speaking about Matteo Brunori, striker and captain of Palermo, Giacchetta expressed words of appreciation for the player: “Brunori? We are talking about a good footballer, contractually linked to Palermo. If he were on the market I think there would not only be Cremonese, but also other clubs.” The sporting director underlined how the interest for talented players like Brunori is natural and widespread: “There is interest in good players regardless and Brunori is part of this category. If the pink and black team were to put him on the market, I imagine there will be many teams interested in his performances.”

These words highlight Cremonese’s attention towards a player who has demonstrated great value and ability in the championship, but also the awareness of the strong competition that could arise should Palermo decide to sell their striker.

Vandeputte: Not a priority

Regarding Jari Vandeputte, the Belgian winger from Catanzaro, Giacchetta clarified Cremonese’s position, indicating that the Belgian is not among the club’s priorities: “In the market, evaluations are made, trying to understand which players may be interesting. Players must be hungry when choosing a destination. It is not our priority and we will not participate in any auctions.”

This statement makes it clear that, despite the rumours, Cremonese does not intend to get involved in an auction for Vandeputte, preferring to concentrate its resources and attention on other market objectives. The choice not to consider Vandeputte a priority could reflect a well-considered strategy, aimed at investing in players who better respond to the club’s tactical and motivational needs.

The Cremonese strategy

Giacchetta’s statements offer an insight into the market dynamics of Cremonese, a club that seems intent on moving with caution and precision. The interest in Brunori demonstrates the desire to enrich the squad with leading talents, capable of making a difference on the pitch, while the decision not to focus on Vandeputte indicates a selective and strategic approach.

Cremonese’s strategy therefore appears to be oriented towards balancing ambition and realism, trying to build a competitive team without being dragged into expensive auctions. With the market in full swing, it will be interesting to see how the negotiations will evolve and what the grey-red club’s final moves will be.
