Tomorrow and Saturday at the Diocesan Museum of Cuneo double appointment with Modulations

Tomorrow and Saturday double appointment with “Modulations – Timeless Music”, the ancient music festival produced by Maestro Società Cooperativa di Cuneo and organized by Noau officina cultura.

On Friday 14 June, at 9pm, at the Diocesan Museum of Cuneo (contrada Mondovì, 15), the “Concert avant le Coucher” will be held performed by the Ensemble Didone Abbandonata (photo above). At the court of Versailles, music, in addition to its role as entertainment, had the function of supporting and consolidating absolutist power. It reflects the grandeur and splendor of the new political and cultural golden age inaugurated with the accession to the throne of the Sun King. After an intense day the king retired to the Coucher around midnight to listen to some of the proposals that the Ensemble includes in the program such as the Suites en Trio by Jean Baptiste Lully, the persuasive melodies played on the theorbo by Robert de Visée and the magnificent Concert Royaux by Francois Couperin. The ensemble was born from the union of young musicians from Turin driven by the desire to explore the musical repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries. The formation includes a band with variable geometry and presents a repertoire of Renaissance and pre-classical music. Free admission.

On Saturday 15 June, at 9pm, at the Diocesan Museum of Cuneo (contrada Mondovì, 15) Cantica Symphonia (photo below) present “In Nativitate Domini”, an anthology of compositions for the Christmas holidays, composed of a series of psalms of the liturgy of Vespers on Christmas Day, alternated with motets, always with a Christmas theme, which, as was customary at the time of the splendor of Venetian music between the end of the 16th century and the first half of the 17th century, replace the Gregorian antiphons before and after the psalms. The presence of great musicians and the flourishing activity of the music press make Venice the crossroads of music from all over Europe. Since 2005 Cantica Symphonia has recorded exclusively for the prestigious Glossa label in Madrid, with which he has published a series of five CDs, all awarded with the Diapason d’or. The same warm consensus from audiences and critics was obtained in numerous concerts in Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Estonia, Slovenia and Morocco. Free admission.

The Modulations festival takes place with the support of the Municipality of Cuneo, the General Directorate of Entertainment of the Ministry of Culture and the CRC Foundation and in collaboration with the GF Ghedini Cuneo Conservatory, the Cuneo Diocesan Works Foundation, the Cuneo San Sebastiano Diocesan Museum, the Rondò dei Talenti, Mets (Music Electronics & Sound Engineers) Cuneo.
