Last year Giovanni Guerzoni, as navigator, achieved a peremptory overall victory alongside Tommaso Fantei in the race reserved for historic cars. This year, however, he will try his hand at driving his Peugeot 309 Gti 16V with the aim of covering kilometers and cutting the finish line after carrying out updates which should have made the French car even more performing as well as reliable. “Last year I fulfilled a dream that I had been chasing for years” says Guerzoni and continues “last year in this race I celebrated my forty years of racing in the best possible way, having started racing in 1983. I ran mainly in role as navigator and occasionally also as pilot. The goal this year is to quickly become familiar with the car that I haven’t driven for over a year and therefore to cover kilometers and cross the finish line, we will also do our best to achieve an honorable result.”

In the modern ones, however, Andrea Calandroni, in his third competitive season after completing the co-pilot course of the Pisan association and distinguishing himself for his competence and professionalism, was called to read the notes to one of the fastest pilots of the Grand Duchy Michele Rovatti. The duo will have a high-performance Renault Clio S1600 at their disposal and it will certainly be an important experience for Calandroni who will be able to put the experience gained in these first seasons of competitive activity to good use. “A great satisfaction to have been called by a driver of the caliber of Michele Rovatti” says Calandroni and continues “as well as using an important and professional car like the Clio S1600, it will be a great challenge and we hope to obtain a good result as well as clearly having fun .”

Therefore, a busy weekend promises to be ahead for the conductors and for all the staff of the Pisan association who will do their utmost to make a good impression in the Florentine event which will begin on Saturday 15/6 morning with the pre-race checks (sports in Cascia-Reggello and technical in Figline Valdarno) and then continues from 11.00 to 15.00 with the shake down.
