Trento ring road: works for the southern entrance delivered

Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, leading company of the Infrastructure Hub of the FS Italiane Group, delivered the works relating to the southern entrance of the Trento ring road to the Tridentum Consortium, a group of companies made up of Webuild Italia (leader of the group), Ghella, Collini Lavori and Seli Overseas.

Work is therefore continuing for the construction of lot 3A of the supply line to the future Brenner Base Tunnel. The construction activities of the southern entrance will allow the assembly and subsequent start-up of the drills (TBM), of which 2 of the 4 planned TBMs have already arrived in Italy, for the mechanized excavation of the Trento tunnel.

The project, worth approximately 1.3 billion eurosis in fact aimed at encouraging the rail modal shift of freight transport, also in view of the growth in flows in the coming years with the activation of the Brenner Base Tunnel.

The work, inserted in the European TEN-T Scandinavian-Mediterranean corridoris one of the priority lots for the upgrading of the Verona – Fortezza railway line, southern access to the Brenner tunnel.

The intervention involves the construction of a new double-track railway line of approximately 13 kilometresof which approximately 11 in double-tube tunnels. The new infrastructure will originate from the existing Verona – Brenner railway lineat the height of Roncafort, and will reconnect to the south in the Acquaviva area.
