the case of TG in Agrigento

An important confiscation order of assets, worth approximately 800,000 euros, was carried out by the Anti-Crime Division of the Police Headquarters of Agrigento against TG, employee of the Sicilian Region and councilor of the Regional Province of Agrigento.

This legal action, irrevocably confirmed in February 2024 by the Court of Palermo, First Criminal Section for Prevention Measures, represents a significant outcome of the property investigations begun in 2018.

The compendium of confiscated assets includes real estate, financial holdings, registered movable assets and energy production plants from renewable sources.

Most of these had already been subjected to seizure following a proposal made by the Police Commissioner of Agrigento, based on detailed investigations conducted by the asset prevention measures section.

TG had previously been definitively convicted for conspiracy usury and ideological falsehood committed by a private individual in a public act.

This provision not only underlines the effectiveness of the investigations of the Anti-Crime Police Division, but also signals a step forward in the fight against organized crime and corruption within local institutions.

This case highlights the meticulous work and dedication of judicial authorities and police forces in ensuring that crime does not pay, especially when it involves public figures and assets of significant economic and social value.

Asset confiscation represents a crucial tool in the fight against crime, being an effective deterrent against economic crimes, and reaffirms the authorities’ commitment to preserving the integrity and transparency of institutions.

TG’s case will be followed closely by the media and citizens, reflecting the importance of these interventions in public life and in the management of public resources. With these results, the community of Agrigento can hope for a future of greater justice and legality.
