Lombardy weather, violent thunderstorm warning
During today’s afternoon, Wednesday 12 June 2024, the activation of showers and storm fronts, starting from the western and southern areas, extending towards the East or North-East. Phenomena intensifying in the evening with frequent thunderstorms, even of strong intensityin transit from the western and southern plains towards the pre-Alpine areas.

In late evening the most intense phenomena will tend to attenuate in the western areas, while they may persist on Thursday night in the central-eastern areas. Possible local cumulations between 50 and 90 mm in the last 12 hours are reported plain and Prealps. Generally moderate ventilation with reinforcements from the east on the plains, from the north on the northern hills and from the south on the Apennines; locally strong winds during the most intense convective events.
For the first part of tomorrow, Thursday 13 June 2024, scattered showers or residual thunderstorms expected between night and early morning, more likely in the southern and central areas, moving towards the East. New instability expected in the afternoon with showers or thunderstorms scattered across the mountains, and occasional involvement of the plains as well. Convective phenomena generally attenuate and extinguish in the evening. Weak ventilation, with some reinforcements from the north at high altitude.
The Functional Center will re-evaluate the new forecast scenarios during tomorrow morning for the possible issuing of alert color codes valid for the second part of the day.
