Milan | Porta Venezia + Loreto – Redevelopment of Corso Buenos Aires: project presented

Milan Porta Venezia Loreto. The redevelopment project of Corso Buenos Aires which involves the improvement of pedestrian spaces, the elimination of architectural barriers, the creation of green flowerbeds and the consolidation of the existing cycle route with red coloring and definitive stone curbs.

The works, financed by 1.5 million euros of PNRR funds, will start by the summer and will last approximately a year and a half.

After an initial construction of the cycle path with curbs in 2023, we will now proceed with the widening of the sidewalks and the insertion of flowerbeds and plantings, the size of which will vary depending on the available space, the underground services present and the level of the slab of the M1 line .

The pools will be larger where the street is wider, such as near Piazza Oberdan, and smaller so as not to limit the space reserved for pedestrians, in the stretch towards Piazzale Loreto.

Where possible, trees no taller than 5 meters will be planted, in other cases shrubs will be planted in flowerbeds equipped with an irrigation system. The intervention, with the depaving and the inclusion of green spaces, will also have positive effects in combating heat islands. Benches and bike parking racks will be placed along the course.

The works will concern the stretch of Buenos Aires course from piazza Oberdan to via Pergolesi. From Piazza Oberdan to Via Scarlatti they will be carried out by the Municipality of Milan, while from Via Scarlatti to Via Pergolesi the intervention will be carried out by two private entities after deducting costs.

As regards the section paid by the Municipality, we will proceed in different phases, first on the even street side and then on the odd side.

In order to minimize impacts on the course, work will be carried out in short sections, and in the section affected by the construction site, cyclists will have to use ordinary roads.
