Padua, online investment fraud

Beware of online scams: the Padua Financial Police, through banking investigations, discovered money flows.

Suspicious money flows

This amounts to approximately 450 thousand euros from Spain, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Finland. This sleep was kept in the bank accounts of an Italian citizen residing in Bologna without justification. The investigators then discovered that they were sums coming from bank transfers from savers, including those from Padua, who had accepted investment proposals through online messaging.

The fraud is called Boiler Room Skam, in business it has a boiler room and has a call center that sells investments and questionable ones. And in this case also through strong psychological conditioning, i.e. messages. In the Paduan investigation, once the bank transfers had been made, the defrauded people were shown false data on the profits accrued. But upon requesting the liquidation of the proceeds, fees were asked to release the money. Clearly nothing was returned.

The “Boiler Room Skam” online fraud

In just three months the Bolognese increased his account by €50,000. But he was only an intermediary: the man then sent the sums, after conversion into cryptocurrencies, to the alleged fraudsters in exchange for money. So, he was effectively a money mule. We are talking about a bank account holder who transfers money from his bank account in exchange for cash. The man is now under investigation for money laundering.

This investigation by the Padua Financial Police highlights the importance of monitoring against online scams. Savers should be cautious with messaging investments, as scams like Boiler Room Skam can cause serious financial losses.
