She is under investigation for aggravated mistreatment of an elderly person she cared for due to repeated acts of physical and psychological violence. With these accusations, the Agrigento police, executing a precautionary custody order in prison issued by the court of the city of the Temples, arrested a woman who was providing assistance as the man’s carer.
According to the accusations, the woman subjected the man to habitual suffering and humiliation such as to cause him continuous discomfort and incompatible with tolerable living conditions.
The investigations after the family members’ complaint
The investigation began in recent days when the elderly man’s family members showed up at the flying squad to report the mistreatment suffered by their father at the hands of the caregiver. In the event, they reported that, due to the infirmity of their elderly father, suffering from senile dementia and no longer able to walk, they had hired today’s arrested person, also pointing out that for some time they had noticed that the elderly father had noticeable bruises on his body. The circumstance had also been noted by another caregiver of the elderly man who had raised suspicions against her colleague due to the injuries she had found on several occasions.
Audio and video interceptions
Faced with this, the agents of the flying squad authorized by the public prosecutor’s office of Agrigento urgently started a technical audio/video interception activity in the elderly man’s home, managing to find that the arrested caregiver used to repeatedly hitting the elderly person, jerking him forcefully, scratching him and slapping him on the head, face and other parts of the body, also punching him on the face; she insulted and intimidated him, often in order to force him to sleep; she mocked him by imitating his constant cries of pain and his moans, enjoying his pain; she wished him death; she jerked him forcefully, thus causing injuries to his private parts; she administered drugs in drops which she diluted in glasses of water which the man was forced to drink.
At the end of the ritual acts, the policemen of the flying squad took the woman to the women’s prison in Agrigento.
