The seasonal activities of the Genti d’Abruzzo foundation begin: with the end of the school year, an eye is turned to the children and their families but also to the arrival of tourists in the city.

Campus workshops, events and themed guided tours will be organised, which will be developed until September and which will allow an original and sometimes even unusual use of the civic museums.

The guided tours in English of the Museum of the People of Abruzzo and the historic center of Pescara represent the big news this year.

“The Museum of the People of Abruzzo and the Cascella Museum have always aimed to be an integral part of the territory – underlines the director of the foundation, Letizia Lizza – both from the point of view of heritage conservation and cultural promotion. For this reason, every year we try to implement the summer programming by acting both on our traditional activities, which are those aimed mainly at children, and by trying to offer new proposals that allow us to interest a wider audience. In recent years, especially after the health emergency period, we have also witnessed a change in tourism dynamics, with the rediscovery, even by foreigners, of alternative centers to the great cities of art, such as Rome, Florence and Naples, for this we have decided to set up a segment of activity that supports Pescara in its promotion also abroad”.

The visits are scheduled for June 28th, July 12th, July 26th, and August 3rd from 11.00am to 1.30pm; on August 3rd it doubles with an afternoon appointment from 6pm to 8.30pm. Reservation required by calling the numbers: 085 4510026 (int. 1) 3939374212 or by sending an email to [email protected]

The events will also start from Saturday 15 June. It starts with “Scatto matto”, from 4.30pm to 7pm, an artistic workshop for children who will have the opportunity to build a nice personalized camera and then immerse themselves in the magic of the museum like authentic explorers.

On 29 June, from 6pm to 7.30pm, the activities move to the Cascella Museum with “Dear friend, I am writing to you from 19th century Abruzzo”: an interactive visit inside the Cascella chromolithographic laboratory to discover the ancient medicinal rites and the millenary traditions of the people of Abruzzo.

On 6 July 6.00pm – 8.30pm “Discovering old Pescara” journey through the history of the city. This is followed on July 13th again from 6pm to 8.30pm by “Visit with crime”, an experiential visit for adults inside the Museum of the People of Abruzzo. On 20 July (6.00pm-8.30pm) “A window on the sea” artistic workshop for children inspired by the Seafarers section of the museum.

On August 2nd “Dear friend, I am writing to you from 19th century Abruzzo” will be repeated but this time in the morning from 11am to 12.30pm again at the Cascella Museum. Finally on August 31st from 6pm to 8.30pm “The missing fragment ”, an artistic workshop for children that will always take place within the Cascella Museum.

Meanwhile, the summer camps for children at the Museum of the People of Abruzzo have already started: this week “Genti di Mare” is underway, to discover the new museum section with artistic workshops and educational games. From 17 to 21 June “Long live the mountains!”: the beauty, myths and legends that characterize the territories of the internal areas. Followed from 24 – 28 June: “Life as Egyptians”, a journey through time to discover mummies, pharaohs and ancient deities.
