Twenty-eight elected mayors of which 11 confirmed at the helm of their municipalities. This is what emerges from the vote in the administrative elections in the province of Caserta with the counting which concluded late on Monday evening.

The mayors confirmed

Eleven mayors have once again earned the trust of their citizens: Antonio Raiano in Curti (his third mandate), Giuseppe Gaetano in Gioia Sannitica, Emilia Delli Colli in Rocca d’Evandro, Lamberto Di Caprio in Caianello, David Simone in Conca della Campania , Stefano Lombardi in Piana di Monte Verna, Nicola Pelosi in Roccaromana, Nicolino Federico in Santa Maria la Fossa, Salvatore Geremia in Rocchetta e Croce, Rocco Landi in Valle Agricola and Michele Scirocco in Formicola.

The failed ones

However, the administration of Castel Volturno failed at the polls, where the mayor Luigi Umberto Petrella failed to win the ballot. Defeated majorities also in Fontegreca, where Stefano Cambio gives way to Antonio Montoro, Prata Sannita, where the outgoing deputy mayor Giovanni La Banca is defeated by Angelo Capone, and Pietravairano where Del Sesto is elected mayor and the former deputy mayor Aldo pays the price Zarone. Vincenzo Lanzone also fails to confirm himself in Ailano, beaten at the polls by Mario Lanzone, elected as the new mayor.

Among those rejected, Stefano Cioffi in Macerata and Enzo Negro in Capodrise cannot fail to be mentioned: both had seen their administrative experience end prematurely and now even the voters have decided not to confirm their confidence in him.

Three women elected

Only three women have been elected mayor in the province of Caserta out of 17 aspirants: the confirmed Emilia Delli Colli in Rocca d’Evandro; Giustina Zagaria in Casapesenna and Marianna Dell’Aprovitola who won the all-pink duel with Concetta Della Volpe in Carinaro. They could be joined by Anastasia Petrella in Castel Volturno and Elisabetta Corvino in Casal di Principe, both involved in the second electoral round.

Three out of three municipalities are on the ballot

In all three municipalities with over 15 thousand inhabitants called to the polls – Aversa, Casal di Principe and Castel Volturno – a second round of elections will be necessary to elect the mayor. In Aversa, the president of the association of accountants Franco Matacena goes under the lists – which exceed the 50% threshold and gain a majority in the assembly – and will have to deal with Antonio Farinaro in the runoff. The matches in Castel Volturno, where Anastasia Petrella and Pasquale Marrandino will compete, and Casal di Principe, with the match ‘branded’ Corvino between Elisabetta and Ottavio, are more balanced.

The flop of the parties

Finally, the administrative elections confirmed the difficulties experienced by the parties in the territories. A difference that appears even more clear if we compare the data between the administrative and European ones. In Aversa, for example, at the European elections the 5 Star Movement obtained 25.92 with 6337 preferences, the Brothers of Italy 5434 votes with 22.23% and the Pd 4161 votes and 17.02%. In the municipal elections, however, the PD stops at 1945 votes, M5S only 1048 while Fdi stops at 1900. Same thing in Castel Volturno where the party of former prime minister Giuseppe Conte receives 2716 votes, making it the most voted, while in the municipal elections the Grillini they stop at 702 votes. Same reasoning for Pd and Fratelli d’Italia while Forza Italia holds sway (1555 in the European elections and 1428 in the local elections). The League receives more votes in the municipal elections than in the European elections (1225 to 1157 votes).
