Pordenone – The Carabinieri of the Pordenone Command have identified and arrested the man who had raped a young woman near the Adam and Eve Bridge. The public prosecutor in charge of the file, Federica Urban, issued the precautionary measure.
The military themselves announced this during a press conference held on Tuesday 18 June. The Carabinieri specified that the attacker is a citizen of Colombian origins, resident in Pordenone, with no criminal record.
He is accused of sexual assault and robbery against an 18-year-old Ukrainian woman, who was returning home after her work shift in a club in the center, at 2 am on June 9th.
The man had waited for the girl to leave the club, had followed her and while she was crossing the Adam and Eve bridge, he had dragged her to a nearby grassy area, punched her and abused her. Then she resumed her normal life.
A partner, children, a good job in a famous company: this is the so-called unsuspecting person. It cannot be ruled out that the man had also frequented the place where the 18-year-old worked with his family.
Fundamental to the investigation were the public and private cameras and also the report of a soldier not on duty, who recognized the man while walking around the city. The woman was robbed of the 20 euros she kept in her wallet for an action that was assumed to be premeditated.
“Given the alleged perpetrator, it is an episodic type of dynamic – specified Lieutenant Colonel Vincenzo Nicoletti, commander of the operational department – not to be stigmatized in a context of social danger”.
However, the military is carrying out further investigations to find out whether the man has been guilty of similar crimes in the past, analyzing the network of complaints in an attempt to understand any similarities.
The press conference also talked about the other investigation concluded by the Carabinieri: two 29-year-olds, protagonists of the brawl with stabbing, the day before the sexual violence in the centre, were identified and reported.
It would be a settling of scores for the control of drug dealing centers between an Afghan resident in Udine and one in Pordenone.
