As the summer solstice approaches, Sicily is preparing to involve citizens and tourists in activities, festivals and recreational events in the name of culture, entertainment and sharing. Among the scheduled proposals, the “Beer Bubbles” stand out, an event dedicated to lovers of craft beer, the cultural regeneration project in Villafrati which aims to enhance the heritage historic city, then again, the “Pride 2024” program which promotes inclusion and diversity, the “Rocca summer fest” which inaugurates the summer season with tastings, musical performances and workshops for families, the theater projects offered by “ Danisinni Social Museum” and much more.

“Beer Bubbles”, craft beer festival

The “Beer Bubbles”, festival of beers artisanal, returns to Palermo from 13 to 16 June, with a larger and more varied edition than ever. The event will be held in via Maqueda, as part of the “Reborn via Maqueda” event which aims to relaunch the stretch of road from the four corners to the central station.

More than 25 breweries from all over Italy, with over 200 types of beer, will be present. Among the excellences there will be “Croce di malto” from Trecate, “Manerba” from Lake Garda, “Balabiott” from Domodossola, “Noiz” from Santarcangelo di Romagna, “Bellazzi” from Lazzaro di Savena, “Monpier de gherdeina” from Bolzano and “Pasì” by Vittoria.



Sicily will be represented by “ballarak”, “Bruno Ribadì”, “Brassicula” and “Epica” together with the newcomer “Pasì” from Ragusa.

Visitors will have the opportunity to taste a vast selection of craft beers, from the most traditional to the most innovative, immersing themselves in the culture brewery. The event will take place for four days from 5pm to 2am.



“Village of theaters”, Villafrati

In Villafrati, in the province of Palermo, the “Borgo dei theaters” is still underway, a program of events that began on May 25th and will end on June 16th, inaugurating the “Villafrati Borgo dei theaters” project.

This ambitious project, financed by the European Union, aims to relaunch the small village in terms of cultural growth, touristsocial and economic.

“Villafrati in fiore” is the spearhead of this regeneration project, with a series of events that include readings, walks, activity and workshops with schools, music, show cooking and the historic Villafratese flower display. The Baglio theatre, a physical space at the Filangeri palace, is a focal point of this project offering a meeting place for culture and social reactivation.

“The moon and the rose”, theater project

The Danisinni Social Museum returns to Brancaccio with an initiative theatrical which celebrates the 400th feast of Santa Rosalia, combining the Palermo tradition with the contemporaneity of street theatre. “The moon and the roses”, a project born from the collaboration with the “Padre Nostro” reception center, aims to revive the spirit of the Festinelli, those small neighborhood parties that animated the city.

on 15 and 16 June, a somewhat “freak” theater company, led by Gigi Borruso, director of Danisinnilab, will cross the streets of Brancaccio with a raft-wagon, staging a show-parade celebrating santuzza, community and rebirth.

The show, “The Moon and the Rose”, is one metaphor of a city that welcomes and becomes a community. The santuzza, at the center of the collective imagination, embodies tradition and hope, the promise of rebirth for every individual. Through scenes and costumes created with the participation of young and old people from the neighborhood, the company will move among the symbolic places of Father Puglisi, celebrating inclusion, the stories of integration and rebirth, the memories and expectations of Brancaccio.

The project aims to give voice to the “little ones” and the “naive”, to those who do not listen, and to revive the spirit of a quarter who has always been able to welcome differences, recognizing himself in a community.

The event will take place in the heart of Brancaccio: on 15 June at 5pm, the procession will start from the multipurpose sports center “Padre Pino Puglisi and Massimiliano Kolbe” and will end with the performance in front of the state comprehensive institute “Padre Pino Puglisi”. On June 16th at 6pm, the procession will leave in the direction of the blessed’s house, now a museum house, in Piazzale Anita Garibaldi 5.

Palermo Pride 2024, 8-22 June

Palermo is preparing to celebrate the Pride 2024 with a rich program of events, from 8 to 22 June, which will see the city colored rainbow in an explosion of music, theatre, stand up comedy, talk and meetings. This year, the Palermo pride will take place under the sign of the fight against gender and sexist violence.

The culmination of the events will be the procession on Saturday 22 June, which will take place without Luigi Carollo, the founder of the Palermo pride who passed away last 24 April. The program includes activities for every taste: tastings of street food with Strafood, which will delight you with local specialties such as pane cunzato, pane e panelle, patatwister, fried pizza, sandwich with sausage and caramelized onion, Angus kebabs, Angus meatballs, brioche with ice cream and ice cream cannoli.

But not just food. The festival will also feature live music, laboratories for families, entertainment for children with inflatables and DJ sets.

Strafood opens its doors at 6pm every day, from 11.30am on Sunday, giving you the opportunity to savor local delicacies and enjoy an authentic gastronomic experience.

“Lady, Be Good”, Teatro Massimo in Palermo

One hundred years after his debut in Broadway, “Lady be good”, the musical by George Gershwin, returns to life on the stage of the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. From 18 June, the Sicilian city will immerse itself in the glittering and frenetic atmosphere of the roaring 20s, with a production that comes directly from the Zarzuela theater in Madrid.

A cast of artists specialized in musicals, together with the Orchestra, the choir and the ballet company of the Massimo theatre, will give life to this show full of rhythm and emotions. The direction is entrusted to the Spanish master Emilio Sagi, who chose to dress “Lady, Be Good” with scenes by Daniel Bianco, belle époque costumes by Jesus Ruiz and lights by Eduardo Bravo. The choreographies, overwhelming and dynamic, are signed by Nuria Castejòn, with an intoxicating rhythm of Charleston and tap dance.

On the podium, maestro Tomothy Brock who will conduct theorchestrawhile the choir and the dance troupe will be directed respectively by maestro Salvatore Punturo and Jean Sèbastien Colau.

There plot, halfway between irony and melancholy, tells the story of two brothers, Dick and Susie, evicted from their home in Rhode Island and forced to reinvent themselves. Between loves, disappointments and a tangle of comical and romantic situations, the two will find the strength to face the difficulties of life, discovering that love is the true key to happiness.

“Lady, be good” is a mix of jazz, wedding marches, blues, Mexican pseudo-fold and yodel parody, an explosion of energy that in 1924 was defined by critics as “reckless”, “senseless”, and “fascinatingly absurd”. .
