Dispute for cleaning workers at “Ruggi” Salerno facilities: managers meet Fiadel workers and trade unionists

In the morning the workers of the Colser cooperative, responsible for cleaning inside the Ruggi hospital in Salerno, started a strike due to the company’s refusal to accept their requests during the two meetings held to date.

“We have workers with 18 and 20 hour weekly contracts, and there have been female workers fired when their contracts expired, without any renewal, while other workers were hired in their place. This situation in a public procurement is unacceptable,” declared Angelo Rispoli, general secretary of Fiadel Salerno. “Not only is this a violation of the contract, but also of safety regulations within a hospital.”

Workers also complain about the lack of adequate changing rooms and the lack of company visits for risk assessment. “These are absurd situations,” Rispoli continued. “We asked the management for intervention after two years, but we got nothing. We also requested a meeting with the health management, responsible for the contract, but to date we have not received a response.”

Following the strike, after 12, workers and trade unionists met with the general director Vincenzo D’Amato, the garrison director Walter Longanella and the administrative director Ferdinando Memoli. During the meeting, their intervention was assured for a resumption of the confrontation.
