(Agen Food) – Naturno (BZ), 11 June. – On 10 and 11 August, Naturno in Val Venosta returns to being the beating heart of Riesling in Italy. On the days of the shooting stars, enthusiasts of this white grape, capable of great versatility and longevity, will meet in the small South Tyrolean village.
A variety that arrived in Alto Adige in the mid-19th century and which in the last 20 years has established itself especially in Val Venosta and Val d’Isarco, later expanding to the rest of Italy.
During the two days the glasses will be intertwined with guided tastings, cultural and musical events and thematic dinners. To cheer the palates of visitors there will be wines from all over northern Italy, from Trentino to the Langhe, from Lombardy to obviously Alto Adige where, thanks to particular pedoclimatic conditions, this grape gives wines of great elegance and freshness, capable over time to be iridescent and complex, always giving new and intriguing scents.
These wines will also be the protagonists of 19th National Riesling Competition, where a specialized jury, made up of 20 Italian and foreign experts, blindly tastes 50 wines from the 5 most prestigious Italian regions for this vine, deciding the winner of the Riesling Gold award and the best of each wine-growing area. The winners will be announced on the evening of August 10th.
On August 11th the tastings will be held at the same time as the Val Venosta Wine Market, where wines, grappas and fruit brandies, fruit juices and jams can be tasted and purchased from 11am to 6pm in Naturno’s Piazza Municipio. , delicious snacks and cheeses, cured meats, speck and bread from local farmers.
