A14, accident at dawn near Faenza: 20-year-old crashes into a signboard and dies

Fatal accident at dawn on Tuesday 11 June on the A14 motorway near Faenza. A young man of 20 died while he was driving his car, a Volkswagen Polo, when it was a few minutes before six: he was alone, the accident occurred two kilometers after the Faenza toll booth in the direction of Bologna. For reasons still under investigation, the twenty-year-old crashed into a motorway sign just outside the emergency lane.

The rescue

There was nothing that could be done, the 118 staff were alerted by some passing motorists he could not do anything but confirm the young man’s death. The firefighters were also on site to clear the area, the local police and the Forlì traffic police were carrying out investigations: from the initial findings it was ruled out that another vehicle could have caused the accident, it is instead possible that the young man lost control after falling asleep.
