The “5.30” sporting wave returns to Ferrara, Friday 21 June 2024 in Piazza del Municipio

The 5.30 is a non-competitive walk at 5.30am on a weekday with a cherry refreshment, which aims to promote healthy lifestyle habits through daily movement, food, culture, art and experience . All in the context in which people live and work, with a sustainable event with low impact on the environment.

The first edition took place in Modena in 2009 (570 participants). The 5.30 project was brought to schools and universities, companies, prisons, collaborated with the Guggenheim Foundation in Venice, and was exported to the United Kingdom and the USA (New York).

And this year too we will all meet again in Piazza del Municipio at 5.30am on Friday 21 June, thanks to the collaboration between Ginger SSD and UISP Ferrara.

The slogan of 2024: Love what you are!

Love yourself as you are! is the slogan of the 2024 tour.

In a world where we are constantly judged, the fear of not measuring up is a constant. Security, however, comes from self-acceptance, aware of their limitations and qualities.

The 5.30 logo is drawn freehand, not precise. As is every human being: imperfect, unique and special!
The red of the t-shirt is the passion with which you must love each other.

Conceived by the advertiser Sergio Bezzanti and the nutritional biologist Sabrina Severi, 5.30 is a major communication project focused on the importance of adopting a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, to experience daily well-being.

The 11 cities of 5.30’s 2024 tour – Nine stops in Italy and two in the United Kingdom
Verona 10 May, Palermo 17 May, Milan 24 May, Turin 31 May, Modena 6 June, Bologna 14 June, Ferrara 21 June, Mantua 28 June, Venice 5 July, 5.30 Virtual 12 July; Brighton 12th July and finishing in Nottingham on 19th July.

5.30 Schools: an activation and solidarity project.

Since 2010, the 5.30 project has also met with widespread support in the high schools of Verona, Milan, Turin and Modena to encourage a healthy lifestyle in students. To learn more about the project in schools: https://www.run530.com/scuola/

A tour with zero impact on the environment

The water at the refreshment point is served in corn resin glasses, which are totally compostable.
Refreshment with freshly picked cherries, packaged in a wonderful paper box designed especially for 5.30.
In the 11 stages of the tour, an awareness campaign is active to actively involve all participants in careful separate waste collection (paper for cherry boxes and organic waste for cherry stones and glasses).

5.30 for social
In addition to project 5.30 School5.30 offers all participants who register online to make a donation to the Hospice Foundation “Dignity for life Cristina Pivetti”; in all stages of the tour, 5.30 donate 1 euro for each member of the association that collaborates in the management of the event for the realization of a project in the area and all Land cherries left, at the end of each stage, they are donated to local organizations in the host city.

Furthermore, all the t-shirts that remain at the end of the tour, are donated to the Civil Protection; for this reason 5.30 was awarded medals of merit by the Italian Red Cross and the Order of the Knights of Malta.

5.30 for sustainability: aligned with the 17 points of the UN 2030 agenda
The passion for sustainable development has guided 5.30’s choices since its debut in 2009. On the website you can discover what it means to organize our events in a sustainable way and relate to local partners, collaborators and sponsors by aligning ourselves with the 17 Objectives to the Sustainable Development of the 2030 Agenda.
