“Visions Européennes”, a course in Bulgaria for young Aosta Valley people dedicated to the media

It will take place in Sofiain Bulgaria, from 15 to 22 September 2024 the “Visions Européennes” training course, dedicated to the media, which involves the creation of audiovisual reports, initially planned in Georgia and then canceled due to the country’s political instability. The project, aimed at young people from Valle d’Aosta, is organized byUnion de la Presse Francophone UPFAosta Valley section-, The Center Abbé Trèves and theAVAS with the support of Structure of Cultural Activities from the Valle d’Aosta Autonomous Region.

The training course, of a predominantly practical nature, will offer students three young people selected the possibility of write, shoot, edit and post-produce a short audiovisual reportage together with a group of Bulgarian kids of the same age. The course will be coordinated by Joseph Péaquindirector and President of the UPF Vallée d’Aoste.

Training is also carried out thanks to collaboration of the Bulgarian section of the UPF and the support of the Institut Français of Bulgaria (Embassy of France).

Participation Requirements

The course is open to young people between 18 and 29 years old residents or domiciled in Valle d’Aosta. To participate in the selections, it is necessary to send a CV and a letter of motivation to the email address [email protected] by June 30, 2024. Candidates must be motivated in the fields of communication, media, journalism and cinema, have good expressive and social skills, and know the Aosta Valley culture and Francophonie.

Upon their return, the young people will write an article about their training experience in Bulgaria. The articles will then be published on the UPF Valle d’Aosta website at www.upfvda.org and in the bulletin of the Valle d’Aosta section Le Forum Francophone.

There participation is free and covers all costs, including flights from Aosta to Sofia, travel, on-site hotel and food and the training course.

The program

DAY 1: Departure from Aosta for Sofia

DAY 2: Presentation of the Aosta Valley by young Aosta Valley people in multimedia form and vice versa the Bulgarians will present their culture and their country to the young Aosta Valley people.

Audiovisual grammar (writing, shots, connections, sound, effects, mixing, editing, etc.).
Viewing a report in French.
Production methodology: detailed analysis of the displayed reportage.
Report writing and interview techniques.
Approach and practice of filming equipment (camera and microphones).
Approach to editing and mixing software.

DAY 3: Writing of the synopsis and sequential group decoupage of a short report. Processing the text of a voice-over.

DAY 4: Creation of the report written the day before. Filming, sound, direction, interviews by the selected young people.

DAY 5: Adaptation of the voice-over based on the shots actually taken. Editing and post-production of the reportage.

DAY 6: End of editing and post-production of the reportage.

DAY 7: Debriefing, questions and comments. Cultural visit of the host country.

DAY 8: Return to Aosta
