COSENZA – Corso Vittorio Emanuele will be reopened to traffic on Thursday morningto conclusion of the safety works of the stretch of road, which was closed for many years and which it represents an important road artery connecting with the historic center. The interventions completed and aimed at the reopening of Corso Vittorio Emanuele were among those planned by the Administration for the mitigation of landslide risk in the historic center and in the surrounding areasthe. The opening of the stretch was initially announced for December last year. Mayor Caruso will also participate on Thursday. A closure, that of via Vittorio Emanuele, occurred in 2019 following a landslide, which caused enormous damage to the entire surrounding area and the traffic of the historic part of the city.
On this path, in 2021, the young Giampiero Tarasi tragically lost his life. The young man, riding his Ducati motorbike crashed into one of the reinforced concrete New Jerseys which had been positioned to prevent the passage of cars, without signaling and with very little lighting. So much so that in the following days there was a great mobilization to ask for the securing.
