ACIREALE – To Acireale a one and a half year old child with serious respiratory problems was saved thanks to the quick response from agents of the State Police.
The situation became critical when a womanvisibly distressed, found herself at wander among the passing cars in via Torquato Tasso, holding her son in her arms. Upon seeing a police car, the mother stopped the officers and asked for help for the child who was having difficulty breathing.
The agents of the Acireale police station immediately attempted to reassure the woman of origin Maghreb and visibly upsetand cared for the child, who was struggling to breathe despite having an open airway.
In that moment of great tension, the officers noticed the passage of an Italian Red Cross car. Without hesitation, they stopped the vehicle and asked the two volunteers on board to accompany mother and son to the hospital, organizing a emergency transport. The police car cleared the way for the Red Cross vehicle, crossing the congested traffic, while the operations room of the police station alerted the emergency room of the imminent arrival of the little patient.
At the hospital, medical staff immediately examined the child, classifying him as code red due to severe breathing difficulty.
