Under 18, it’s time for the semi-finals: after Genoa’s beautiful victory over Inter, Roma overcame Atalanta and reached the final.

Under 18 professionals, as announced on the FIGC website, the two semi-finals were played today at the Del Conero stadium in Ancona and at the Del Duca stadium in Ascoli. The two matches were broadcast live on DAZN and on VivoAzzurro TV. In the regular season, there were 17 teams in the group: Inter finished the group in first place with 70 points from 32 games. Genoa, however, finished the championship in fifth place and eliminated Lazio in fourth place in the playoffs. In the first match, there was a big surprise right away: the Ligurians, in fact, eliminated from the tournament the very team that dominated the Regular Season with a crackling 5 to 4 (after extra time).

By regulation, Genoa could only win to go through: for the Under 18s, at the end of 120 minutes the team that achieved a better position in the first phase (that of the single group) advances. The rossoblu, in any case, had won two matches out of two in the season’s direct clashes. In the evening, however, Roma challenged Atalanta.

Under 18: the result of the match between Roma and Atalanta

Roma Under 18, during the two seasonal matches against Atalanta, collected two good victories. The first match, the one at the end of January, was spectacular: the Giallorossi earned the 3 points with a crackling 4 to 3. In the last championship match at the end of May, however, the Romans won 1 to 0 away from home, thus earning the direct access to the final four.

Even in this semi-final, Roma prevailed. In the first half, the two teams studied each other and tried not to leave too many spaces to their opponents. In the 45th minute, Atalanta almost took the lead with Arrigoni hitting the crossbar. In the second half, the Giallorossi immediately took the lead with Solbes. Ten minutes later, the doubled with Reale. Baldo’s goal was useless for the opponents: the Giallorossi will challenge Genoa in the final on Thursday at 8pm to compete for the Scudetto.
