Rotary Umbria “crowns” Professor Garattini « ilTamTam.it the online newspaper of Umbria

The annual Rotary Umbria Award, promoted and organized by the 17 Rotary of the District 2090 region, constituted in the Umbria Presidents Committee (CPU) was assigned this year to Professor Silvio Garattini, one of the world’s greatest scientists in pharmacology, ninety-five years oldthe most authoritative voice of research in Italy, founder of the Mario Negri Institute in Milan in 1961, of which he is still president.

The Prize was awarded to the illustrious scientist with the following motivation: “pfor his long and precious scientific activity in biomedical research, for his social commitment and for his dissemination ability in favor of health, an example for the Umbrian Rotarian world, gratified by his choice of Umbrian citizenship“.
The illustrious pharmacologist, also well known internationally, he holds numerous positions in Italy and in many other countriesis the author of hundreds of scientific works in the field of pharmacology and has received numerous awards and honors at national and international level.

Professor Garattini has lived in Cecanibbi since 1970a village in the municipality of Todi, a city that last year awarded him the honorary citizenship for his very high professional merits and what gratitude for the unconditional love for the city of Todi.
With the patronage and collaboration of the Municipality of Todi, on June 21st at 6pm in the Council Room of the Municipality of Todi the award ceremony will take place, followed by a lectio magistralis by Professor Garattini himself on “Prevention is revolution”a central theme in the professor’s educational activity which is also the title of his most recent work, a recently published book.

The Mayor of Todi, Antonino Ruggiano, expressed his deepest satisfaction on behalf of the city for the prestigious Rotary Umbria Award to Professor Silvio Garattini, taking the opportunity to thank the president of the Rotary Club Todi, Dr. Cesare Angelantoni, for the fervent activity promotedwho is preparing to conclude his year at the helm of the Rotary association.
