An important step for the clinical and healthcare offer of the MOH, made possible thanks to the collaboration between the hospital and the European Urological Centre (CUrE), directed by Dr. Giovanni Ferrariwhose team encompasses numerous branches of urology, includingandrologyL’urogynecology And oncological urology.

“It is useful to know that a urological visit is recommended even in the absence of symptoms, aged 50 and over, or in any case a family history of uro-oncological pathologies or other risk factors such as cigarette smoking, alcohol abuse, incorrect nutrition but also for workers at risk,” says Dr. Ferrari.

Among the main minimally invasive surgery operations that can be carried out at the Mater Olbia Hospital, we highlight the treatment of prostatic hypertrophy with the use of lasers (HOLEP), treatments ejaculation sparing (REZUM, UROLIFT, ITIND), endoscopic resection of bladder (TURBT or TURV) and prostate (TURP) tumors, endoscopic ureterorenolithotripsy, percutaneous lithotripsy and videolaparoscopic surgery for oncological and non-oncological pathologies of the kidneys, ureters, adrenal glands and prostate.

“The demand for urological care coming from the area is significant, and being able to respond to the numerous requests for treatment of urological pathologies, from the simplest to the most complex, including cases of neoplasms, represents a very important step,” he states Marcello Giannico, CEO of the Gallura hospital.
