Nicola Cavina he is the new coach of Faenza Calcio. He takes over from Agostino Vezzoli who concluded his experience after bringing the team back to Excellence at the end of the play offs. Already coach of the Under 19 Junior team for several seasons, with important results, Nicola Cavina takes on the role of manager or coach as it is understood in English football given that he will also continue to carry out the role of sporting director held in recent years.

A 360-degree figure that confirms his strong bond with the blue and white colors of Faenza Calcio where he joined as youth sector coach in 2012, then appointed youth sector manager in 2014 and a year later also sporting director.

It is an important challenge for the new coach who declares: “I thank the club for the task entrusted to me, I am happy and at the same time curious to test myself in this role too. I take on the commitment with enthusiasm and the awareness that it is a great responsibility, but also a motivation to improve myself. I know well how important it is to consolidate Excellence for the local football movement, even more so since the collaboration with Virtus Faenza was created last season, practically doubling the youth sector. I therefore accepted, well aware that I was the first to consider returning to taking care of sports management only if conditions required it. I am linked to the corporate project, not to a specific role. A project born in 2012 with the president Gian Andrea Missiroli and Luciano Lanzoni”.

How will the team play?

“Alongside players confirmed from the winning season just concluded and young players from the Under 19s, some already with appearances in the first team, we will insert elements capable of bringing the experience, personality, physicality and technique necessary to face the step up in category. As in May last year, together with Juri Lucatini, we are evaluating the most suitable profiles for us”.

Do you have a favorite module?

“There isn’t a module that I think is best. I like to change depending on the players available and also during the game based on the game situations. The mentality of the collective is fundamental, a cohesive group based on common values and objectives”.

CURRICULUM Born in Faenza on 14 May 1986, Nicola Cavina grew up in football as a defender in the city teams: Orsa, Virtus and then Faenza in the youth sector before moving to Castel Bolognese in the First Category and Promotion. He then wore the shirt of Casola Valsenio and then San Rocco where he began coaching in the youth sector at the same time and then chose this path and abandoned football at the age of 25. The first experience was in the “first kicks” category and then leading the Students (Under 16 and Under 17), then the Under 19 from the 2016-2017 season. On the Junior bench he won the overall regional title (2018-2019), won the group three times (2017-2018, 2022-2023, 2023-2024), reaching the regional semi-finals on 4 occasions. He also served as assistant coach in the First Team with Vezzoli in Promotion and with Dardozzi in Eccellenza. Since 2014 he was appointed head of the youth sector and then also sports director. He has a degree in psychology with a specialization in sports psychology and as a “sport mental coach” in neuro-linguistic programming.
