The former player of Rome Vincent Candle gave an interview to Tuttosport to talk about Paulo Fonsecanext coach of Milan. These are Candela’s words:
On how Fonseca will fare at Milan: “It won’t be easy for him to coach Milan. Stefano Pioli did well, he won, he built a team and in these last three years of the Champions League Milan have been protagonists. Secondly, it won’t be easy for him to impose himself on Milan.”
On his years at Roma: “I didn’t always like what I saw. In every game at the beginning he always changed, a lot, perhaps he changed too much. He kept the players moving a lot. I don’t know if it’s good for the team or not, I honestly didn’t like it. I prefer to start with eleven starters, then there’s the bench. In Rome, however, a lot changed… The first season he did well, then the second year he fell out with Dzekohe changed the captain’s armband giving it to Pilgrimshad some problems and the club made its decision.”
On the merits: “He is certainly an experienced coach, who has traveled a lot and has always done his job. But coaching Milan is a great responsibility. Milan is Milan. Milan always aims high. His story says so.”
If for him Milan should have focused on something else: “With all due respect to Fonseca, it is a club that deserves a coach like Antonio Conte. The level must be that, a high level when it comes to certain clubs. Milan is a team that deserves coaches who have won something more in their careers.”
