«In the Imola area we won, but above all we are growing. We are on the right path.” Fausto Tinti thus comments on the results of the European elections in the ten municipalities, the first as secretary of the Imola Federation of the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party is the leading party in the entire province of Bologna, including the Imola district, and in Emilia-Romagna, indeed it increases its votes compared to the previous European elections in 2019. Fdi, the leading party at Italian level, also makes a splash in the ten municipalities in the Imola area but the Lega and Forza Italia quorum risk numbers collapse. The M5s also collapses, overtaken by Alleanza Verdi Sinistra which flies almost into double figures. «Whatever Meloni says, she is not growing in these territories, she has consolidated her leadership in the Government and as a party but by swallowing up the Lega and Forza Italia, which do not have extraordinary numbers» continues Tinti’s analysis.
«Bonaccini was a driving force and in general it cannot be said that the leading candidates were not right. The result of the Alleanza Verdi Sinistra was also good, while Action and the reformist United States of Europe were in more difficulty. But they have always resulted in the centre-left area, they give important signals to the country. I think people have regained confidence.”
Tinti sees the glass as half full. «I’m happy because in Castel del Rio we are almost equal and in Fontanelice we are ahead albeit slightly, but the important thing is that there is a growth trend. On Dozza the Democratic Party did an extraordinary job, we went from around 900 votes to 1,100. I will shortly convene a secretariat and a management for the analysis of the vote and to begin preparing to consolidate this result within the regional elections” he concludes already thinking about who will have to replace the president Stefano Bonaccini who is packing his suitcase for Brussels.
