Voting for the renewal of the European Parliament and for the election of the Mayor and City Council closed at 11pm yesterday, Sunday 9 June.
The counting of votes for the municipal elections will begin at 2 pm today (live results on https://www.comune.livorno.it/risultati-elettorali), while the counting of the European elections took place this night, immediately after the polls closed.
The vote in Livorno recorded aturnout above the national average, given that, for Europeans74,808 citizens of Livorno went to vote, compared to the 133,387 registered on the electoral lists, i.e. the 56.08% of members (56.60% of males and 55.61% of females).
For them municipal elections the turnout was 55.13% (55.43% of males and 54.84% of females), with 75,123 voters out of 136,265 registered voters going to vote.
The turnout of the municipal elections was lower than that of the European elections because, with the same number of voters voting, the number of those registered to vote for the European elections was lower than that for the municipal elections (a difference of almost 3 thousand votes) because many AIRE citizens they asked to vote abroad (but this could only be done for the European elections and not for the municipal elections) and therefore they had been canceled from the Livorno lists for the European elections.
Results of the European Championships
For the Europeans (unofficial data) i valid votes They were 71,713 and represent 95.86% of the votes cast, which were 74,808. The votes considered invalid are in fact 3,095, of which 1,079 blank ballots, 2,000 invalid ballots, 16 disputed ballots.
